Alta is a very busy lady. She made this Graffiti
Quilt for her best friend Rene. Every second block has a heart on it to bind
the blocks together. I certainly hope her friend treasures it, as it was made
with lots of love. Well done Alta, keep up the hard work.

SATURDAY MEETING
Saturday was our meeting day. It was hosted
by Madeleine. Look at the divine eats she made for us. I forgot to take the
tinfoil off the savory tart before taking the photo. Thanks Madeleine.
We got started on working on the goody bag
projects. As you can see many hands make light work. Lots of laughter was had
as Annatjie was sweating and gave a huge sigh when she was finished cutting her
material. It is amazing how much gets done in the three hours that we spend
together.
Here is our newest member Linda with her
beginner’s quilt that she made in Hettie’s beginner’s class. She made it bigger
to fit a single bed. Congrats Linda.
Madeleine is also busy
with a Stack ‘n Wack project. Just look at the colors she used in the quilt
We had a wonderful time together, and does
it motivate you to also make something beautiful. What a group of stars.

SATURDAY MEETING PART 1.
On Saturday we got together for our usual meeting. We started packing some of the items for the goody bags for our festival://oranjequilters.blogspot.com/
There is still sooo much to be done, but with the amazing people in our group things are going well. Everybody is so eager to help and we managed to get 1300 items packed. Well done and thanks so much for the help.
SATURDAY MEETING PART 2
After packing the items for the goody bags and some yummy eats and coffee, made by Annatjie, we still had time left for some show & tell. Here Tannie Rina is standing by a quilt she is busy hand quilting. What an amazing lady.
From left : Karin, Annatjie and Beatrice admiring the quilt.
This quilt was the quilt of the show. The photo does not do it justice. It is absolutely amazing. Congrats Christa with winning so much prizes. She won prizes for all the quilts she entered. Here is one she entered in the art department. She attended a workshop at the Stellenbosch Festival last year, and it is finished. There is a lot of embroidery on it, witch sadly cannot be seen on the photo.
Ruby has finished the top of her quilt. Now for the quilting part to be done, here she is getting some ideas from fellow quilters. Well done Ruby. Hope to see that quilt at the show next year.

ALTA STREET
Alta is making this quilt for her grandson, Jaiden. Here we packed out the blocks to get an idea of how it will look. Most of the work done on the quilt is handwork, so it could be done in front of the TV.
RINA SCHUTTE
Rina is the most treasured member of our group. She told us that she wont be partaking in any of our group projects as she wants to finish her quilts. As our group is responsible for the goody bags for our festival, we are really busy making items to put in the bags. Being Rina she is working just as hard to do her part.
Here she is explaining her quilt that she made. She put "koekarretjies" on some of the blocks. The photo does not do the quilt justice. Well done, Rina.

ALTA STREET
Riana Nel thought we should all gather at Alta Street at 6 in the morning to wish her a Happy Birthday, as it was a very special day. She turned 60. We arranged with her husband, Albert, as they were on their way to Clarens for the weekend. He bought us some snacks to have with our champagne, but Alta, not knowing a thing about our visit, handed the snacks to her grandchildren. Fortunately Riana, being a very organized woman packed us each our own breakfast muffin. She also packed a breakfast basket for Alta and Albert. THANK YOU Albert for keeping our surprise a surprise, as you can see we caught her in her pjs.
MADELEINE DU RANDT
Madeleine made this beautiful heart quilt. Well done, you can be extremely proud of your neat work. Here she is showing her quilt with our new member Linda Meiring admiring it.
QUILT FOR FAMILY LIVING IN AUSTRALIA.
A friend of Alta du Plessis made this African theme quilt for her children that are living in Australia.
I am sure they will be extremely proud to hang this in their home.
I am sure they will be extremely proud to hang this in their home.
GOODY BAGS
Some of the ladies in our group offered up a few of their Saturdays to work on projects for our 2013 Quilt Festival. As you can see why they quilt so beautiful is because they eat such yummy lunch. I wonder if it was the food that inspired them to get together ..... Thank you ladies for being such stars.
