CROCHET DAY
Riana and I were fortunate to attend a crochet day at The Oorlogs Museum earlier in the year. Karen Adendorff came to show us how to crochet a Rose Mandala. We had an awesome day. A lot of concentrating, counting and recounting and some pulling out and starting again was done. We are very proud that we finished the Mandala. Here is a photo of us with Karen Adendorff and one with our finished Mandalas.
SATURDAY MEETING
We had our normal Saturday meeting on the 23 July. We don’t get together during the holidays, so it was a really long time since we had got together. You can just imagine all the catching up that had to be done.It was Martina’s turn to host the afternoon. She made the most awesome eats. Here are some photos of the day. This is Marietjie a friend of Alta Street who is visiting her. here she shows her hexagon table runner that she is busy making. I love the idea that she glues her fabric to the template as I am also a lover of glueing. It is much quicker than tacking. Marietjie we look forward to seeing the finished project. Love the colours that you used.
This is Alta Street peeping out the side of her quilt. she is so happy to finish her beginers quilt is finished. She did Hattie Pringle beginners quilt class. The quilt is hand quilted. Her friend Marietjie has the pleasure of now owning this beautiful quilt. Congrats Alta on a beautiful quilt.
Here is Elsie with her scrappy hearts quilt that she made for a friends granddaughter. This quilt has to get to Tarkastad and all the planning she did to get it there have not realized. we are holding thumbs that it will eventually get to its owner. She sure is missing out on enjoying the quilt. Well done Elsie. It sure is a beauty.
Juanita is finished with her quilt. Congrats Juanita on finishing a beautiful quilt. Now for the next one.
Here is Riana with her scrappy hearts quilt. She used velvet polar fleece for the backing. It makes the quilt much warmer and cosier. Her family loves to cuddle under it so its the most popular in the house at the moment.
A wonderful meeting it was that I did not even take out my handwork. Too busy looking at the quilts and chatting way too much.
We are having a break again as our next meeting falls on a long weekend but I am sure we will get some quilting done.
